Zoom is currently testing a new program that will display ads at the end of free meetings, the company announced in a blog post . This will upset some Free Zoom users , but it’s not as bad as it sounds.

“With this in mind, today we are excited to implement a pilot advertising program that we hope will allow us to support the investment and continue to provide free entry-level users access to our robust platform,” said Zoom Marketing Director Janine Pelosi.

Pelosi broke down what this program will look like to users. “For this initial program, ads will only run on the browser page that users see after their meeting ends. Only free entry-level users in certain countries will see these ads if they join meetings hosted by other free entry-level users.

It seems that the ads are not too intrusive, as they are displayed as a banner in a browser window when a meeting ends. They will not interrupt your meeting Nor will they wait to start a meeting, so it appears that Zoom is implementing the ad pilot program in the least intrusive way possible, at least for now. If the program does not work well, the company may change the way it displays these ads.

Pelosi completed the blog post by saying, “We are incredibly proud to provide a service that helps so many people around the world stay connected. This change ensures that our free basic users can continue to connect with friends, family and colleagues with the same robust platform that we have always provided.
