Solution to the problem of Backup in WhatsApp

The backup on WhatsApp allows us to restore all the content of the application if at any time we change phones. The backups of the messaging application are made in Google Drive daily, weekly, monthly or simply when we press the “Save” button.

However, many users are reporting that when they perform the backup in WhatsApp and reaches 100% stops and prevents the complete process from being carried out, which of course prevents the backup from being completely saved in the Google cloud.

How to fix WhatsApp backup problem

If you are one of those affected by the problem described above, we have the solution for you. As the guys from WABetainfo, users who have this problem only have to follow the following steps and they will be able to successfully backup their WhatsApp.

  • The first thing is to unlink your WhatsApp account from Google Drive by starting cloud session
  • When we are in Google Drive, we go to Settings -> Application manager -> WhatsApp Messenger -> Options -> finally we click on «Disconnect from Drive».
  • The next step is to uninstall the application (WhatsApp).
  • Then, on your Android device, using a file manager we are going to go to this address: /user/Android/Media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Databases.
  • In this folder, we are going to select the most recent backup and proceed to change the name to msgstore.db without touching the extension, which in this case is .crypt
  • Now we proceed to install WhatsApp again
  • When we make the WhatsApp configurations, the application will try to download the recent backup from the cloud, but since we have unlinked it, then it will take the database stored on our device, in this case the one we have changed the name to.
  • After the local database stored on our device is restored, we proceed to link the application with Google Drive again by just going to the WhatsApp backup settings.
