Thanks for your reports on battery drain during update from iOS 14.8 to .15 in both firmware versions over the last few days. We have passed your information on to the appropriate team and we can confirm that they are currently investigating it.
In addition to trying to restart and / or a clean reinstall of the app, it would be great if you gave a go to disabling Background App Update – this can be found under Settings -> General -> App Update under background.
Thanks! We will keep you posted and will let you know as soon as we have updates on this.
If you think your iPhone might be suffering battery problems , you can check which applications are consuming the most power. Go to the Settings app, then tap ‘Battery’. Give your phone a few seconds to load the data and you will see how much battery each app is using .
When you check the data, if you notice that Spotify seems abnormally high, you can follow Spotify’s advice to disable background app update to help save some battery until Spotify has a solution.
Hopefully Spotify will get an update soon, as the app tends to get a lot of use on iPhones, and draining the battery excessively could drive a lot of users away.
