Although WhatsApp is one of the most popular apps in any smartphone, it still has a shortcoming: there is no specific app for iPad.
Still, that doesn’t mean that you can’t use WhatsApp on your iPad thanks to WhatsApp Web. This method will connect your WhatsApp account with your iPhone and forward the messages to your iPad. That is, you can send and receive messages, photos and videos in your tablet.
In addition, the developers of the application have made sure that the Web version of WhatsApp has similar functions to the iPhone version, such as notifications. Something similar happens when you want to use WhatsApp in a tablet without SIM.

How to use WhatsApp on an iPad
If you want to connect to WhatsApp through your iPad, you should know that there are two ways to do it: or through the Safari browser, or through a third-party application that you can download from the App Store.
1. WhatsApp Web in Safari
Follow these steps to access this service from Safari:
Step 1. Open Safari on your iPad and type the address web.whatsapp.com. When loading the page, you will see that it does not direct you to the typical WhatsApp Web interface, but rather that it takes you to the WhatsApp home page. If you are using iOS 13 skip to step 3.
Step 2. If you are running iOS 12 or earlier, you will need to get WhatsApp Web to display the desktop interface – the site will redirect you to the WhatsApp home page by default. This is done by tapping and holding the update button to the right of the site URL until you see a button appear. Tap on ‘Load site from desktop’ and wait for the page to refresh: you should now see the WhatsApp web interface.
Step 3. The page will reload and the WhatsApp Web interface will appear. You will see a QR code that you will have to upload from your iPhone. To do this, take your iPhone, go to ‘Settings> WhatsApp Web‘and scan the QR code to pair both devices.
Step 4. The page will reload and you will be able to see all your recent WhatsApp messages. Let’s chat!
It is necessary to mention that this option has several limitations.
The first one is that you cannot send voice notes, since the browser is not officially compatible with WhatsApp (although you will be able to reproduce them).
The second limitation is that unlike when the service is used on a Mac or PC, notifications from web browsers are not supported on iOS, so you will not receive notifications of incoming messages.
However, the service is quite easy to use and has become a very good option for most WhatsApp users.
2. Third-party WhatsApp applications
It is true that, although WhatsApp Web through Safari on an iPad is a good option, it is not perfect. After all, WhatsApp is not designed for iPad.
That is why many companies realized that there was a demand for a WhatsApp application for iPad. It is worth taking a look at different third-party applications that are available in the App Store to use WhatsApp.
So, if you are looking for a slightly more premium alternative, you might be interested in apps like Messenger for WhatsApp or Chat for WhatsApp.
WhatsApp Web is a free and easy way to access WhatsApp from your iPad. Although, as we have explained, you will not receive notifications, it is still a good way to access your messages from your tablet.
