Windows 10 has the ability to sync your clipboard with other devices . SwiftKey, a popular keyboard app for Android, uses this feature to sync your clipboard to your phone and PC. It is very useful to have it.
How Clipboard Synchronization Works
What does it mean to “sync” your clipboard between Windows and Android? Imagine that you copy text on your Android device, now you can go to your PC and press Ctrl + V to paste exactly that into Windows. This can save you a lot of time in certain situations.
First, enable clipboard sync in Windows 10
To get started with this feature, you will need to enable clipboard sync on your Windows PC. To do so, go to Settings> System> Clipboard. Activate “Synchronize across all devices”.
On that same page, scroll down a bit more and choose “Automatically sync the text I copy.” This will ensure that it syncs without any additional work on your part.
Then turn on clipboard sync on Android
Now, we can move on to SwiftKey on your Android device. At the time of writing, in early August 2021, the feature is available in beta. Download it from Play Store and open the app after it installs.
You will be prompted to set SwiftKey Beta as your default keyboard app. Go ahead, do it .
Next, you need to log into SwiftKey with the same Microsoft account that you use on your Windows PC. Tap “Account” at the top of Settings.
Then select “Sign in with Microsoft”. Clipboard syncing doesn’t work with a Google account.
Once you are logged in, go back to your SwiftKey settings and select ‘Rich Entry’.
Go to “Clipboard”.
Now, we can activate “Synchronize clipboard history”.
You will be asked to sign in to your Microsoft account again to verify. Touch “OK” to do so.
That is the last step! From now on, any text you copy to Android will be available on the windows clipboard , and any text you copy into Windows will be available in the android clipboard . It works perfectly.
