Screen time is something that worries many parents. Is a little screen time okay? How much is too much? Fortunately, if your child has an Android device, you can easily control how much screen time they have.
There are a few ways you can limit your child’s screen time, but the best method is Google Family Link . This will allow you to monitor and control almost everything on your child’s device from yours, including screen time limits.
Note: To use Family Link to limit screen time, your child will need to have an Android device that is signed in with an account linked to their Google family.
First, open the “Family Link for Parents” application on your iPhone , iPad or device Android . Your child must use Android, but can set the limits from any device. Select the child whose screen time you would like to limit.
Here, you can see a number of things, including the application usage time, but we are looking for the section «Screen time». Touch “Configure”.
There are two tabs on this screen: “Daily Limit” and “Bedtime”. We will start with the daily limit. First, select all the days you want to limit screen time.
Then select the time and adjust it to your liking. You can customize each day separately or tap “Also apply to …” to change the time for multiple days.
With that out of the way, we can go to the “Bedtime” tab. Technically, this is not a screen time limit, but it will prevent your child from using the device after a certain amount of time. Activate the “Scheduled” switch and set the days and times as we did before.
When the Daily Limit and Bedtime settings are complete, tap “Save” in the upper right corner to finish.
You will now be able to see your child’s screen time usage on their profile in the Family Link app.
That is all! Your child will not be able to use the device for longer than you have determined and it will lock itself only during bedtime. That is very useful. Family Link is an invaluable service if you have children who have their own devices.
