Google Slides has more fonts than can appear at first when looking through the font drop-down menu. We’ll show you how to find those hidden fonts and add (or remove) them from this menu.

Finding Available Font Styles in Google Slides

Google Slides comes with a default list of fonts to choose from when you want to change the font type of your text. The drop-down menu only appears in the menu bar when you select a text box. Click in a text box in your presentation and then click the down arrow next to the font name.

The drop-down menu will appear showing a list of sources. While it’s still a good list of fonts, not all available fonts are listed here. If you cannot find the font you are looking for, click on “More Fonts” at the top of the drop-down menu.

The font window will appear. This is where you can find all the fonts that are available in Google Slides.

If you know the name of the font you are looking for, you can type it in the search box in the upper left corner of the window.

You can also use filters to sort and display the available fonts. Filters can be configured using the drop-down menus to the right of the search box.

  • Scripts: select fonts for languages ​​that use different writing systems, such as Japanese, Hebrew, Arabic, and others.
  • Show: shows all available fonts or filters font styles by “Screen”, “Handwriting”, “Monospace”, “Serif” or “Sans Serif”.
  • Order: Sort available fonts by popularity, alphabetical order, date added, or current trending fonts.

Now that you know where and how to find the other available fonts, the next step is to add (or remove) them from your list.

How to add or remove fonts from your list

Adding a font to your list is as simple as clicking on it. When you click on a source, it will appear in your “My Sources” list on the right.

Click on the source to add it to your list.

To remove a source from your “My Sources” list, click the “X” next to the source.

Click the X next to the font to remove it from your list.

When you have finished adding and removing fonts to your list, click the blue “OK” button in the lower left corner of the window.

Every font added or removed from your “My Fonts” list will be reflected in the font drop-down menu when you edit your slides.

With the new font on the screen, you can do some basic formatting, such as italicizing or underlining text. These are basic functions you need to know do to create a professional presentation.
