OS X doesn’t come with cooling monitoring software, but there are three temperature sensors in the chassis to help you control the fan on your MacBook Pro. If necessary, the motherboard’s corresponding circuits can increase or decrease the voltage supplied to the fans.

If manual configuration is required, you can use the free cooler control program smcFanControl. It allows you to adjust the minimum RPM, create custom cooling profiles, and display fan speed information in the menu bar.

After installation, the program will appear in the menu bar. To see the main window, select “Preferences …”

We select the rotation speed by moving the “min. Speed ​​”for each cooler and click” Save.”

After selecting the speed, you can simplify the program control by switching between profiles. The main window is called “Favorite,” and in quick access from the menu – “Active Setting.”


To create a preset, click on the plus in the program window’s upper right corner, specify its name, and set the speed. To set the exact value, press “Tab.”
